Your Safety Might Depend On It
When it comes to workplace safety, understanding all the potential hazards employees are exposed to is important. But what is more important is understanding what hazards pose the greatest danger to employees. Because then you can focus on eliminating exposure to those hazards, preventing serious or even life threating injuries.
Makes sense – right? It makes so much sense that even OSHA thinks it’s a good idea. How do I know that?
Because OSHA has taken the big 4 construction hazards that lead to serious injuries and fatalities and refers to them as the Focus Four Hazards. So, what are the 4 hazards OSHA looks for? They are:
- ·Fall Hazards
- ·Caught-In-Between Hazards
- ·Struck-By Hazards
- ·Electrical Hazards
Take a moment and think about these 4 hazards. What do they all have in common? They all can lead to a serious injury or even death.
When it comes to workplace safety, it’s important to understand that we’ll never eliminate all injuries, no matter how hard we try. What we want to do is to keep them to a few scratches and bruises.
Take a few minutes and think about the hazards you or your employees are exposed to that can lead to serious injury or even death. Then focus your efforts on preventing exposure to those hazards – someone’s life might depend on it.
