In Hindsight
Would you say your safety is important to you? Important enough for you to do everything possible to protect yourself from a workplace accident?
I’m guessing without putting much thought into those questions your answer was yes.
So, what would you do if you knew today, before you started working, that you were going to be in a serious workplace accident? Perhaps while working from the top of a step ladder (This Not a Step) or working in a trench without proper trench protection. Or maybe by tripping on material that you failed to pick up while working or by not wearing proper safety equipment.
Again, I’m just guessing, but my money would be on you not standing on top of a step ladder, making sure you had protection in the trench prior to getting in, making sure that material was picked up and out of your work area, and/or wearing proper safety equipment when necessary.
Was I right?
So, why don’t you work today, tomorrow and every day after with the understanding that anytime you shortcut workplace safety, the worst possible thing will happen to you.
That way when you’re at home off work with a broken arm you won’t have to say, “In hindsight I could have prevented that accident and be working today.”
