Together We Can Make a Difference

Imagine an accident-free workplace. That’s right – take a moment and really imagine it.

No more scratches, bumps on the head, cuts that require stitches, sprained ankles, broken bones, strained backs, trips to the hospital and no more fatalities.

It would also mean no more damaged equipment, increased insurance and workers’ compensation premiums, lawsuits, and accident-related project slowdowns.

The list goes on, but I think it is clear. A workplace free of accidents would benefit everyone, right?

OK, back to reality.

We all know that we will never eliminate all accidents. Why? Because we are human and even with the best intentions, we all make mistakes.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t do better.

And together – we can do better.

There is no question that employees can’t ensure a safe workplace by themselves, but the same holds true for employers.

It takes everyone working together to make a safe workplace a reality.

Workplace safety is everyone’s job. Together we can make a difference.

Employee QuickTip

Every day comes with choices about workplace safety. You can choose to use a ladder that is too short to do the job, or worse yet use a rolling chair to reach what you need. You can choose not to wear a hard hat because it is uncomfortable. You could remove a safety device off a piece of equipment, so your work goes a little quicker.

Or you could choose to perform your work in a safe manner and help others. The choice is yours.

Employer/Management QuickTip

Companies often look at workplace safety as an additional cost, but when it’s done correctly it saves you money.

Don’t believe me? Look at some of the costs associated with workplace accidents I mentioned above. Some are hidden in costs of doing business, but they still cost money and sometimes a lot of money.

Workplace safety is a win for everyone.Employees go home at the end of each workday in the same conditions they came to work, and employers save money.

You can’t beat that.

DON’T FORGET: It’s that time of year when many employers with more than 10 employees are required to complete OSHA 300 Logs and some are required to electronically submit their records.

Get a free Fillable PDF 300 Log with instructions and Excel OSHA 300 Log templates. The 2020-OSHA300 Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses must be posted at your workplace from February 1st through April 30th, 2021. If you are required to electronically file your 2020-300A report, the information must be uploaded by March 2nd, 2021.
